David Yurman originally studied sculpturing and came into the jewelry design business after a short artist career as sculptor. After positive reaction to an angel shaped copper belt buckle that he designed for his wife, Sybil, he created and sold additional belt buckle designs and started experimenting with wire and eventually crafted his signature design – that of a twisted cable.  He has evolved into a popular contemporary jewelry artist whose designs can be found in all the major upscale department stores such as Saks 5th Avenue and Neiman Marcus.
